About
The LaPerm traces its ringlets to a single bald kitten born in a barn litter in The Dalles, Oregon in 1982 — the dominant mutation curls even the whiskers, meaning one copy of the gene is enough to produce the breed's signature corkscrews. Kittens may be born bald, straight-coated, or already curly, and some lose their birth coat entirely before the permanent waves grow in.
