About

The quince is a small deciduous tree in the rose family that produces golden-yellow, pear-shaped fruit too astringent to eat raw but richly fragrant when cooked into jams and pastes. Often considered the original 'golden apple' of Greek mythology, it was one of the earliest fruits cultivated in the ancient world.
