About

Springtails are tiny six-legged arthropods found in almost every soil and leaf-litter habitat on Earth, with some soils hosting over 100,000 per square metre. Most can launch themselves up to 100 times their own body length using a forked tail-like appendage called a furcula — a split-second escape from predators.
