About
The Plott Hound is the official state dog of North Carolina, descended from the boar-hunting hounds brought to the Appalachian Mountains by German immigrant Georg Plott in 1750. The only AKC coonhound breed with no English Foxhound blood in its lineage, it is prized for relentless stamina on steep terrain and a striking brindle coat that ranges from light buckskin to dark charcoal.
