About
Tylopilus is a genus of boletes recognized by their pink-to-brown spore prints and, in many species, a fiercely bitter taste that renders them inedible even though they closely resemble prized porcini relatives. The genus includes the aptly named bitter bolete (T. felleus), a common woodland species often mistaken by foragers for the king bolete.
