About

A coastal bottlenose dolphin found along the western North Atlantic from New York to Florida, named after Tamanend, a Lenape chief. It was recognized as genetically and morphologically distinct from the offshore common bottlenose dolphin in 2021, based on smaller body size and skull differences.
