About
The golden lion tamarin is a small New World monkey endemic to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, famous for its brilliant orange-gold fur and a dramatic lion-like mane framing its dark, expressive face. Critically endangered in the wild, its population has rebounded thanks to one of conservation's most celebrated reintroduction programmes — numbers have grown from fewer than 200 in the 1970s to over 3,000 today.
