About

The Sumatran orangutan is a critically endangered great ape found only in the tropical rainforests of northern Sumatra, recognised by its long, shaggy reddish-orange fur. Adult males develop dramatic cheek flanges — flat, fleshy discs framing the face — and can produce long booming calls that carry over a kilometre through the forest.
