About

A small, secretive cottontail of the Pacific coast that rarely strays more than a few feet from dense brush cover. When startled, it freezes motionless rather than fleeing, relying on its mottled brown coat to vanish into the thicket.

   A blind, nearly hairless kit nurses briefly each day and stays hidden in the burrow or form.
