About
A wide-ranging black-and-yellow swallowtail whose caterpillars feed on anise, fennel, and other plants in the carrot family, storing bitter compounds that make them distasteful to birds. Adults patrol hilltops and mountain peaks looking for mates, a behavior called hilltopping.
