About
The Eurasian Tree Sparrow is a compact passerine instantly recognisable by its rich chestnut crown and the bold black oval patch stamped on each pure white cheek — a marking absent from the closely related House Sparrow. Unlike most sparrows, male and female are identical in plumage, and the species readily nests in holes in trees, walls, and nest-boxes, often forming loose colonies.
