About

A common Southeast Asian songbird with a sooty-black crown and a short, backward-pointing crest, set off by a red patch beneath the eye and a bright crimson-to-yellow vent. Highly adaptable to human-altered habitats, it has become one of the region's most familiar garden and park birds, and an invasive presence in areas where it has been introduced.
