Merriam's chipmunk is a large, drab-striped chipmunk of dry chaparral and oak woodlands in California and Baja California, with duller markings than most of its Neotamias cousins. It stuffs seeds and acorns into expandable cheek pouches to cache for the lean winter months.

Life cycle
