The Thatch Palmetto is a type of palm native to limestone-based calcareous soils in the Yucatan Peninsula region of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and western Cuba. These palms prefer to grow in areas with costapalmate fronds, which are a transitional phase between fan palms and feather-leaved palms.
