About

A slender, yellowish lungless salamander named for the pair of dark stripes running down its back, found clinging to wet rocks and streambanks across northeastern North America. It breathes entirely through its skin and the lining of its mouth, and its larvae can spend up to three years living fully aquatic in cool, clear streams before transforming.
