The Usambara baboon tarantula is a nocturnal spider that lives in the forests of Angola and central and southern Africa. It can catch its prey with its eight legs and has a diet that includes insects, spiders, and other tarantulas.

Life cycle

   A silk-wrapped egg sac shelters a clutch of eggs until the young are ready to emerge.

   A spiderling emerges from the egg sac already in miniature adult form and starts catching prey almost immediately.
