About

A medium-sized rabbit named for the puff of white fur on the underside of its tail, flashed as an alarm signal when fleeing in zigzags. A doe can produce as many as seven litters a year, raising kits in shallow grass-lined nests called forms.

   A blind, nearly hairless kit nurses briefly each day and stays hidden in the burrow or form.

   A weaned juvenile is fully furred and venturing out to graze, still small and easily startled.
