About

A large, vivid macaw of South American tropical forests, with cobalt-blue upperparts and rich golden-yellow underparts visible from remarkable distances in flight. Like other macaws, it regularly visits riverbank clay licks to ingest mineral-rich earth that neutralises the toxins found in the wild seeds and unripe fruit it eats.
