About

An Italian breed named for its Adriatic coastal city of origin, marked by V-shaped combs and black plumage flecked with distinctive white 'mottled' spotting that increases with each molt. Anconas are prolific white-egg layers and excellent foragers, retaining much of the flighty alertness of their unimproved farmyard ancestors.
