About
A close cousin of the Monarch, the Queen butterfly sequesters toxic cardenolides from milkweed as a caterpillar, making adults unpalatable to birds. Its rich chocolate-brown wings with white spots and black borders are accented by a distinctive scent patch on the male's hindwing used to disperse courtship pheromones.
