About
The mitred parakeet is a mostly green parrot native to the Andean foothills of Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina, marked by scattered red flecks on its head and face that increase with age like a patchy crown. Highly social and loud, it forms large flocks and has also established thriving feral populations in California and Florida from escaped pet birds.
