About

A stocky songbird common across central and southern China, Taiwan, and northern Vietnam, instantly recognizable by its crisp black cap, bold white cheek patches, and pale vent that gives it its English name. It has been introduced to Hawaii and Japan, making it one of the most successfully established passerines outside its native range.
