About

Bonobos are one of humanity's two closest living relatives, sharing roughly 98.7% of our DNA. Unlike their common chimpanzee cousins, they live in matriarchal groups in the Congo Basin rainforest and are renowned for resolving social tensions through affiliation rather than aggression.
