Hoary marmots are a species of marmot that lives in the mountains of northwest North America. Hoary marmots live near the tree line on slopes with grasses and forbs to eat and rocky areas for cover.

Life cycle

   A blind, hairless pup nurses in the nest and is unable to regulate its own warmth.

   A weaned juvenile is fully furred, leaves the nest, and begins foraging on solid food.
